HIM

[quoteLeft]Little boys are just SUPERHEROS in Disguise. [/quoteLeft]The freckles. The lashes. That dimple in his chin.

His random sarcasm that makes me laugh nearly every day.

That little cowlick that gives him what he calls his “dude” look to his hair.

The way that He loves EVERYBODY and can see good in just about every person he meets.

The way he sets his mouth in that firm little line when He is determined or doesn’t get his way.

The slight furrow in his brow when he’s worried and He’s trying to work things out in his head.

He likes his independence and his space, but He is still my baby that needs his goodnight kisses and crawls in bed with me early each morning to cuddle.

He is my sensitive one.  My thoughtful one. My methodical one.  My empathetic one.  Yet he can be tough as nails if you mess with his baby brother or somebody that he loves.

I worry about him because He has such a tender heart and I don’t want that to ever get broken, but I know at some point in life it is going to happen and there is nothing I can do about it.

I’m pretty sure his brother is going to make an old man out of him by the time they reach adulthood.  While Riley just bulldozes and hulk-smashes his way through life with a grin, Wyatt is never too far behind trying to prevent the next disaster and trying to make some kind of sense or logic out of the chaotic tornado that is his baby brother (good luck darlin’!).

He forgives so quickly.  Last week his brother punched him with a toy and knocked out half of his front tooth.  Before the bleeding had even stopped he was already hugging Riley and told the dentist who had to rebuild his tooth that “Riley is just like that some days.  It’s ok.”

He is only 7, but yet he is already as tall as my shoulders, and wears the same size shoe as me.  I think sometimes people expect more out of him because he looks so much older than He is.

He is my selfless one.  Last week I watched him throw himself between his baby brother and a snake without even hesitating.  When I went to do away with the snake, He was the one that was right behind me and although fearful of it, was still insisting that I let it be to go live it’s happy life because “It was just scared.”

He makes this mama so proud EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
