We photographers are not immune to what our clients go through on picture day. My own session with my boys today reminded me of why I love lifestyle sessions so much more. Everything leading up to this was such a comedy of errors. At the end of it all, I just had to laugh. So just so y’all get that I truly do understand what you go through in prep for your sessions here ya go! (Hilarious outtake photos soon to come….yup I photographed it ALL.)
The day started with Riley giving himself a black eye at church (of course on the ONE day out of the year that we have pictures scheduled).
Then his nap didn’t happen at normal time making him grumpy and insane.
THEN, He decided to wail…I mean really let loose for a good hour about how much he HATED his hair and how I had done it “all wrong” and how He needed to “fix it”. I realized that this was karma, for the early childhood hears when I put my mother through hell during family photo because I hated my hair.
THEENNNN…..He spilled milk all over his outfit and we ended up in outfit number 2.
Two previous locations, I mean AMAZING crazy stunning super cool locations that I had picked out for this shoot became unavailable at the last second….so I improvised.
At that point I strongly considered throwing in the towel, grabbing a beer, and just forgetting the whole damn thing. HOWEVER, my poor father went to the effort of pulling out the car and washing it. So, I sucked it up and promised myself that next year, I hire a friend. (right because we photogs always say we are gonna do that….and don’t.)
Whew. Ok well here is a sneak peek of my own fall mini session with my little monsters. I’m going to go find a bottle of wine now…or 10.
(For the car junkies like me yes that is a 67 Camaro, yes it sounds as amazing as it looks, yes it does have 650hp under that hood, and yes…it is F-ing fast. Anybody who knows me knows I love my own Camaro. This one is my Dads and both boys are fascinated by it so I have been trying to use it for a session for a year now. See, my horsepower obsession is genetic.)
That look….that’s the look we give each other when we just don’t know what to do with his crazy brother so we just…look at each other. Oh and here is one of those out takes I promise.d Yup. Photographers kids…..they loooooove the camera (not).
