I have also decided to do fall session giveaway this year! So when you book your session, you get to nominate deserving family and friend(s) to win one as well! (details below)

This has been a rough month for Floridians. Usually I do a session giveaway closer to Christmas time, but figured this year, I would move it up to fall. If you have a friend or family member that you think should receive a free photo session this year, please list that info below. I will be reviewing all nominations and will contact the winner by October 20th, 2017. All of us know someone who may be dealing with something particular stressful in life right now, or a special needs family, anybody you can think of that a portrait session of their loved ones is something that they might not be able to book for themselves. No pressure, but it only takes a minute to nominate someone special ;).

I feel like all of my posts have been so long and image heavy lately, but I am just so excited to share them with you all! This one will be no exception.  I had a BLAST in Maui capturing Jen & Pat’s Wedding weekend with their friends and family.  I am having such a hard time choosing which images to share, so please excuse the image overload!

Locations:  Honua Kai Resort & Olowalu Plantation House

We started the wedding day off at Honua Kai with morning yoga!  It was the perfect start to the day with friends and family.

After morning yoga everybody took a little breakfast break and then the getting ready process began! First at Honua Kai, and then finishing up at Olowalu Plantation House before the ceremony.  One of my favorite wedding day traditions to do with my couples  is to gather up their bridal party members and have them circle around, and each take a turn telling their favorite memory of the couple or individually of the bride or groom.  I started doing it last summer, and it creates such an amazing energy during those pre ceremony moments, of laughter and love, that I try to do it with every wedding I shoot when time allows!

Jen and Pat opted to do a first look with each other before the ceremony.  The Plantation house was the perfect setting for  it. Cozy and intimate!

As far as bridal parties go, you couldn’t have a better crew than this! So much amazing positive energy and love.

The ceremony was a perfect reflection of the couple. Filled with joy, laughter, and jokes!

Every detail of the day was perfectly attended to by Emily of Manette Gracie (I adore working with her, and PS for all of my couples who book with her I offer a discount because she is just that awesome!)

I whisked the couple off for a few moments of portraits before the sunset and then it was party time!

A little (ok maybe not so little) peek at Corey & Kailey’s Winter Park Wedding Day!  These two are just the greatest to work with.  Their joy and love for each other as well as their family and friends shows in every single moment.  Thank you for the honor of being able to capture this day for you two!

PS. Ladies! Kailey is an amazing dress designer. She designed and made her own dress that you see below. Check out her work at: https://www.kaileyellynbridalcouture.com/

1 CORINTHIANS 13: 1-13

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

The day I learned that “Aloha” isn’t merely a word.

That it isn’t just a greeting or a farewell.

It is a way of life forged in love.

 Something shared between souls.

A nod from one heart to another.

A guiding force of good will and peace.

An “I see you and accept you” with  joy.

It is grace and compassion that is shared from the purest part of the heart.

It is a way of saying “welcome home” to a stranger.

At least that is the way I came to know it in my short time on Maui. My favorite moments of the trip were spent watching the moon set amidst a blanket of stars every morning, and an evening at Little Beach surrounded by strangers who never for a moment make you feel like you are anywhere but home. Thanks for letting me and my camera feel welcome and thank you to my friend Emily for letting me capture her beautiful children during our adventure. <3 The images below were all taken in the span of 6 hours.  I can’t wait to go back!

(just a note…the following post contains nudity. If that offends you, look away.)

For the photogs who are curious all images were shot on Canon 5D Mark IV and either a Sigma 35mm or 50mm Art Lens.  One of my goals this trip was to see how the Mark IV performed under extreme low light conditions.  Most of the night time shots you see are at ISO 10,000 or higher or are long exposures of 20-30 seconds for the star images.

I just love intimate weddings!  Alexis and Jared opted for a small DIY wedding in Winter Park, FL with their closest friends and family.  Their venue was Bistro On Park Avenue and it couldn’t have been more perfect for what they had in mind with it’s cozy warm style, tucked away in the little alleyway with the gardens. <3   Instead of a full day of wedding photos, they had me come just for a few hours, which worked out perfectly for the size of their event.  After the ceremony we worked our worked our way to the Park and down a few favorite streets for wedding photos before returning them to the Bistro for the dinner party with everyone!

Oh one hand I love that so many of my clients are also photographers, but on the other there’s always a little bit more pressure, especially when they say “I’m leaving everything up to you.  Do whatever you want.”  Deborah and her boys were so much fun to work with.  Especially little man (if you can’t tell I’m kind of obsessed with him and his amazing hair). They met me down at one of my favorite locations near Clermont for their family photoshoot and I couldn’t have asked for better light or more beautiful subjects. <3

PS (because everyone is asking about where she got her dress….amazon.com for the win!)
